Job Summary:
The Business Development and Marketing Specialist will play a pivotal role in promoting and supporting the core business of the credit union. This position focuses on the development and sustainability of membership growth, and profitability of the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for onboarding and maintaining strong relationships with members and key stakeholders while assisting in executing strategies that enhance the department and by extension the credit union’s market presence and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with management to establish specific targets for membership growth and retention and execute strategies and techniques to achieve same.
- Assists new members to navigate the onboarding process, ensuring a seamless integration into the credit union.
- Review and analyze the credit union’s product and service portfolio and identify areas for improvement and potential business opportunities or alliances.
- Conduct comprehensive market research to stay informed about current products, industry trends, and competitor activities and report on such trends.
- Design and implement surveys to assess member needs, aiming to continuously improve departmental targets, objectives and overall effectiveness of the credit union.
- Upsell appropriate CCU products and services to members. Identify existing members who will pre-qualified members with shares for loan opportunities to enhance lending activities.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to, business owners, liaison officers, directors, and HR representatives.
- Collaborate closely with team members to achieve planned targets and promotional activities.
- Conduct field visits as necessary to enhance membership engagement and to promote products and services.
- Create and deliver engaging presentations to potential and existing members to highlight the benefits of credit union membership.
- Assist in developing educational initiatives to enhance members’ understanding of the credit union’s products, services, and benefits through seminars, workshops, and publications.
- Provide individual financial counselling and planning sessions to members, promoting account conservation and financial literacy.
- Acquire a foundational understanding of core Co-operative principles through accredited training.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Senior Business Development and Marketing Officer and or Senior Manager, Business Development and Marketing or designated representative.
Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience equivalent to:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field, and
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in sales, business development, marketing, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of business development strategies, sales and promotions, digital marketing is an asset.
- -Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information:
- A valid driver’s permit and a working vehicle will be considered an asset for this role, as field visits and member engagement activities may require travel. This role will also entail being stationed at any CCU Office, inclusive of any satellite office.
